To Virrat on a steam boat Tarjanne
Poet’s way’s departure and destination harbours are Mustalahti harbour in Tampere right next to the amusement park Särkänniemi and Virtain laivaranta harbour at Virrat near the city centre. The route goes on Lake Näsijärvi, through Murole canal passing by Ruovesi and Visuvesi and then reaching Virrat. The entire trip takes 8 hours and 15 minutes.
The route is operated by s/s Tarjanne, a steam boat legend built in 1908. The boat is the last operating passenger steam boat in Finland. On the boat, passengers will experience the authentic steam whistle blow and enjoy the service at the restaurant designed by the famous Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela.
